I've got a plate of crispy fried chicken in front of me. But you know what I'm looking for? That delicious bowl of chicken gravy to go with it. And since I love Chickenjoy, I always look for Jollibee's chicken gravy even when I'm at home.
No fried chicken dinner is complete without a rich, smooth gravy on the side. This homemade Jollibee gravy recipe has become my go-to because it doesn't require any chicken drippings. I can make it anytime with ingredients I can easily find.

My Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 Knorr Chicken Cube (My secret weapon!)
- 1¾ cups water
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

How I Make My Homemade Jollibee Gravy
- Start with the roux. I melt my butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once it's completely melted, I add the flour and stir constantly for about 8 minutes. I'm creating a beautiful brown roux that gives my gravy its rich color and flavor.
- I drop in my Knorr Chicken Cube and stir until it's completely melted and mixed into my roux. This little cube is what gives my gravy that deep chicken flavor without needing any drippings.
- I pour in the water gradually while stirring constantly. This prevents lumps from forming. You want to take your time here. I keep stirring until everything is well blended and smooth.
- I add my onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. These seasonings really put the flavor. I stir everything together and let it cook for just 1 more minute.
- I pour my homemade Jollibee gravy into a serving bowl and it's ready to go! The consistency should be smooth and thick enough to coat a spoon but still pourable.
- Serve and enjoy with your favorite fried chicken.

My Personal Tips
- Don't rush the roux. Those 8 minutes of stirring are crucial for developing flavor and color
- If my gravy gets too thick, I just whisk in a little more water
- If it's too thin, I let it simmer a bit longer to reduce
- I always taste and adjust the seasoning at the end
- This gravy is amazing not just with fried chicken, but also over mashed potatoes, biscuits, or even rice.
